Living Social Outdoor Landscape Workshops
Lair O' The Bear:
This scenic day hike
offers an abundance of nature's best features including a variety of
trees, insects, flowers and wildlife (highlighting a Beaver sanctuary).
This 1.5 mile hike starts out easy on a groomed path that winds along
the creek. Not only will you experience the sounds of wildlife, the
rippling brook, and the wind in the trees but the sights are sure to
impress and entice you farther along the path. Although this area was
inhabited in the 1930's, it was eventually abandoned and you can now
see the contrast of domesticated land as it reverted back to the wild.
Some evidence, such as the Old Stone House or "the Castle," sheds light
on this relationship and offers more photo opportunities than the day
will allow. So, you might want to plan a trip back and opt to trek
further up the path to the moderate part of the hike!
